- The State continues to engage with local health authorities and jurisdictions on equitable vaccine distribution. The team will provide updates to the COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Taskforce on a consistent basis.
- The addition of the statewide call center has enabled those eligible for vaccination, but who may be experiencing a barrier for internet access, to receive information and assistance over the telephone.
- The call center is able to use multiple languages to supports equitable access to information about vaccinations.
- The Nevada Vaccine Equity Collaborative, run by Immunize Nevada set to meet for the first-time next week, will help inform vaccinators on tailored messaging and outreach as well as community-based support across the state by those who work to achieve equity every day.
- Some vaccine deliveries have seen delays this week, due to severe storms across the country. The team continues to monitor this closely and is working with health districts and pharmacies that may be affected. Nevadans are asked to continue to be patient at this time as some events will need to be rescheduled.
- Doses of vaccine are allocated on a weekly basis and we encourage Nevadans to go to NVCOVIDFighter.org for appointment availability.
- Beginning next week, the State will be increasing immunization opportunities to Nevadans 65 and older through the federal pharmacy partnership program.
- There has been an increases in allocation of vaccines to the pharmacy programs from the Biden-Harris Administration.
- Through incredible hard work and collaboration, the State is ready to quickly and efficiently administer vaccines as soon as doses are received. As problems are identified, the teams from across the state are working together on solutions. That’s the Nevada way.
- The pharmacy partners will begin to schedule appointments for those 65 and older next week after shipments of the COVID vaccine are received.
- Due to continued limited allocations and shipments of vaccines, only the pharmacy partners will be offering vaccines for those 65+ beginning next week.
- The goal is now to work with counties who have not yet been able to offer the vaccine to this age group to ensure they can expand vaccination events statewide, for those 65-and-older by March 1.
- Some of Nevada’s smaller counties have already been able to offer vaccines to those 65 and older, but this effort will help some of the larger counties move into this category faster.
- The Governor and his team continue to ask Nevadans to be patient as we await increased allocations from the federal government.
- NVCOVIDFighter.org will have additional information on how and where to schedule appointments. Nevadans who do not have reliable Internet access or need help can reach out to the Statewide call center at 1-800-401-0946.
- Getting students back into classrooms as safely as possible has been one of the Governor’s top priorities.
- This afternoon, a new emergency directive will be put into place to help bring more students back into classrooms safely.
- Our transmission rates are on the decline and Nevadans are urged to continue to do all they can to help keep the rates low. The CDC has stated that schools can be reopened safely as long as community transmission is kept under control.
- It is critically important for Nevadans to continue following all existing mitigation measures, including socially distancing and wearing a mask.
- The Governor also announced a new Emergency Directive related to schools and sports. For more information on the reopening of schools, see Nevada’s Roadmap to Recovery: Pre-K – 12 Education.
