This bulletin provides facts, figures, and informational items from the call. As a reminder, data is provided in a dashboard on the home page of the Nevada Health Response website.
SUMMARY:
- As of today, Nevada has logged 306,952 cases, with the 14-day rolling average of daily cases being 211.
- Nevada has now completed a total of 3,038,594 molecular tests since the beginning of COVID-19.
- The State has seen a couple days of high testing, due to some labs sending over backlogged cases.
- The test positivity rate over the last 14 days is 4.8%.
- The State Office of Analytics is still reporting very slow and minor increases when they look at the cases attributed back to specimen collection date as opposed to date reported.
- The large number of cases today may be attributable to a backlog that is being uploaded as well, the State is continuing to work with local health districts on this at this time.
- We continue to encourage Nevadans to follow mitigation measures, including staying home if they are sick, seeking testing and isolating if they may have been exposed to slow the spread and importantly, to get a vaccine when they are able to make an appointment. During this time, we should continue to wear masks and practice social distancing.
- Today, the Nevada Hospital Association is reporting there are currently 320 COVID-19 hospitalizations (247 confirmed; 73 suspected).
- As of April 8, 1,462,022 COVID-19 vaccine doses (By Resident County) were administered and reported to Nevada WebIZ.
- 37.3% of the population 16 and older has initiated vaccination and 23% of the population 16 and older has completed vaccination.
- It’s really encouraging that almost 40 percent of the eligible population has initiated immunization and that almost 25 percent has completed this process.
- Early in our vaccine rollout we focused on Nevada’s most vulnerable populations, those we know were hit hardest by COVID.
- It is encouraging to see the number of people initiating vaccine grow day to day, and the high uptake of vaccine in our senior population is important to protecting their health and the health of our communities.
- Yesterday, the second Mobile Vaccination Unit, or MVU, events took place.
- The event on the Northern route was held at the Washoe Tribe in Carson City where they vaccinated about 430 people and the Southern event kicking off 3 days in Pahrump reached about 330 people. Both MVUs are stocked with the Janssen vaccine.
- The Northern MVU is headed to the next stop at Topaz Ranch Estates while the Southern MVU will remain in Pahrump where they are vaccinating today and tomorrow.
- As always, Nevadans are encouraged to check out NVCOVIDFighter.org or call 1-800-401-0946 for the latest information on appointment availability in their county.
