This bulletin provides facts, figures, and informational items from the call. As a reminder, data is provided in a dashboard on the home page of the Nevada Health Response website.
SUMMARY:
- The Governor has prioritized the ordering of at-home antigen test kits for Nevadans.
- During the first roll-out, the state ordered more than half a million test kits to be available at community locations throughout Nevada.
- Some partners only requested a small number of kits, while others had both the community need and ability to store more kits. It takes all these partners to meet the statewide needs of residents.
- The goal of this program is to make these test kits available for free in convenient locations so families can have them at home and ready to use when needed and to supplement the federal mail order program for kits.
- As a reminder for the federal program, every household may order 8 kits to be sent to their home. To order, residents can visit the NV Health Response - COVID-19 Testing page, or call the State’s COVID-19 Call Center at 800-401-0946 for help ordering, or order directly at COVID.gov/tests.
- At home test kits can quickly and conveniently present results if they become symptomatic. They are a much more sustainable option, compared to large community-based testing sites.
- There are detailed directions with each test kit and following those directions is important to ensure the results are as accurate as possible.
- At-home tests kits are just one part of the COVID-19 testing program in Nevada.
- Today, at the Nevada Legislature’s Interim Finance Committee, the next part of the Governor’s testing program was agenized.
- This program includes the second phase of the at-home test kits purchases that is targeted to underserved populations who may struggle to access other community locations.
- Test kits were provided to tribal centers, senior centers, and many social services programs oversee by county government partners.
- To date, the State has ordered more than 100,000 kits to be sent to almost 90 more locations, as well as kits sent to our public health warehouse if the state needs to move them quickly in response to a rise in cases.
- This testing program also includes an allocation to order a million point of care tests for the state.
- These tests are a critical part of testing in schools, correctional settings, community-based testing locations and health care facilities. These tests also offer a rapid result but are done by a clinician as opposed to an individual at-home.
- The State’s COVID-19 Call Center is happy to walk the resident through their test as well, for help call 800-401-0946 between 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
- The COVID-19 Call Center can also help you understand the implications of your test results. They can help you calculate an isolation period, assist you in notifying close contacts, and determine if you are eligible for COVID-19 therapeutics.
- It is vitally important to access treatments as soon as possible after symptoms start to increase options for therapies, so please reach out to the call center or visit the NV Health Response – COVID-19 Treatment page to learn more.
- The State’s roll out of the at-home testing program is only possible through community partners who offered to help store and distribute these kits.
