Allentown Rescue Mission Receives Face Mask Donations

Picture
The community is helping homeless men in the Lehigh Valley stay safe

(Allentown, PA)—The Allentown Rescue Mission would like to thank the community for coming together during this time to make and donate hundreds of face masks in order to keep the men and employees of the Allentown Rescue Mission safe.

#TeamBrayden2016, which refers to Brayden Schofield, a Ewing Sarcoma (an aggressive form of bonce cancer) survivor made a mask donation. Even though it is not known exactly who made them, the help and support is truly appreciated.

Lehigh Valley Sikhs have previously donated to the Allentown Rescue Mission and are once again helping during their time of need. Sikhs made and donated masks for guests and dropped them off using Allentown Rescue Mission’s curb side drop-off.

Judy Walker and Linda D’Angelo are sisters who have been working together to supply face masks to the community. These ladies have been diligently making masks and chose the Allentown Rescue Mission as a community organization to give back to. Cindy Hower is also using her time at home to give back by making and donating masks for the guests in the hopes that everyone will remain safe and healthy during this time.

Lisa and her co-workers, from First Commonwealth Credit Union of Bethlehem, donated hand sewn masks for the guests along with Peace, Love, and All Things Baking by Jody Stonehouse!

Groups from outside of the Lehigh Valley even supported after hearing about the needs on the Allentown Rescue Mission’s Facebook page. The Needlework Project by Women of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kutztown, led by Naomi Owens, gathered the ladies and sewed us dozens. Patricia Hillman, who learned of our need through her son in-law, Jeff Martin from Century 21 of Wyomissing, spent time hand sewing masks to donate.

Making Masks in Berks (Berks County) & the National Sweetheart – American Women of Service group came together and provided a huge bag of hand sewn masks. The Refill Station all the way from Clarks Summit, PA saw our needs online and purchased and shipped surgical masks to the Mission… and the donations keep coming in from countless others in the community. Thank you!

All together, these groups have donated more than 450 single-use and reusable fabric facemasks to the Allentown Rescue Mission. The face masks provided are given to the men and the employees to ensure that everyone remains safe and healthy while rescuing, rehabilitating and restoring lives. The Allentown Rescue Mission would like to thank the community and their partners for coming together during this uncertain time and for donating a much needed item to the men. It is said that it takes a community to change lives and with all of the support of the community, the Allentown Rescue Mission can continue to change lives safely.
