AFPI Files Amicus Brief to Support Navy Seals with Vaccine Religious Exemptions
November 23, 2021
Washington, D.C. – The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) filed an Amicus Curiae in support of U.S. Navy SEALs 1-26, et al., v. Joseph R. Biden, et al., in the Northern District of Texas, Amarillo Division.
This pending litigation, brought on by First Liberty, involves 35 U.S. Navy SEALs who are seeking a legal, religious accommodation to the Department of Defense (DoD) vaccine mandate. The Navy SEALs represented in this case have had their careers and livelihoods threatened with punishment, involuntary separation, and even court-martial.
Our friend of the court brief, which is supported by the credentials of Lt. General (Ret.) Keith Kellogg and the Honorable John Ratcliffe, Co-Chairmen of AFPI’s Center for American Security, showcases the national security dangers that this mandate poses for our military – a military that has already been debilitated with budget cuts and reduced personnel support by the Biden Administration. The negative discharges associated with non-compliance of these mandates undermine U.S. national security and violate the deeply held religious beliefs of American service members. The legal team at AFPI is committed to protecting the heroes who have dedicated and sacrificed so much to protect the freedoms of our great Nation.
Statement from the Chair of AFPI’s Constitutional Litigation Partnership, Pam Bondi:
“The Constitutional Litigation Partnership stands strong in supporting the United States Navy SEALS in their fight against the unconstitutional vaccine mandate. No one, including our military, should be required to choose between violating their religious beliefs and serving our country. We stand united with our men and women in uniform and their families. These heroes have selflessly served our Nation and dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms – it is now our turn to protect theirs.”
