Ever had a sense of Deja Vu? How about a dream that was more real than the physical reality? Catch something in the corner of your eye? Maybe smelled or felt something that was out of place with your physical surroundings? Not to mention the evolving technology of VR? Simpler and more direct: get almost completely lost / absorbed in music or art?
Great questions about how we are supposed to define reality in the modern world. That is the Surreal aspect of the magazine. Covering art / music / crowd funding projects and a lot more in this area. Especially through video / video reviews / photos. Sometimes, the physical (perceived through physical senses) reality can seem like a surreal landscape.
ValeCity has 2 parts to the magazine's definition. 1) Covering both major cities (Philadelphia and slowly more of New York for now). One July 4, at Wawa Welcome America Festival (Philadelphia), Surreal ValeCity was born! The Lehigh Valley: while still covering a few events, the magazine is trying to provide more of a support role here. 2) The magazine is on the street level. News, politics, photos and videos of everyday life help to stay grounded in a world and society that can be difficult to survive in.
Surreal ValeCity has and always will have 2, primary, goals: state only the facts and what has happened / is stated (especially with news and politics). To make every attempt to help people / community / society / world (Overnight Walk for Suicide Prevention / crowd funding reviews / etc.). Secondary goals include: entertainment / editorials (when staff feels very strongly about a topic) / interactivity (Feedback and Submissions) and more.
I say this at the end of a lot of articles. It is stated very seriously: Take some time from this busy, crazy life we have. Enjoy it with friends, family, a little while for yourself. We get one chance at every moment. Make each one a great memory!
Sincerely,
Michael Phoenix
