2100 Attend JobsFest Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV – Nevada has led the nation in hiring for the past several months and today that momentum continued with roughly 2,100 people attending Governor Steve Sisolak’s Las Vegas JobFest held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Several state agencies, led by the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, organized and hosted 182 employers, who posted 16,723 job openings. The day highlighted career assistance for job seekers, and there were also opportunities for apprenticeship program trainings.
“Today is a testament that we as a State are rebuilding and coming back stronger than ever - we have opportunities for Nevadans,” Governor Sisolak said. “We have an amazing opportunity here today to not only connect Nevadans directly to jobs, but it was also a priority for me to have services here so we can connect Nevadans to retraining programs so they can learn new skills and find a new, good-paying career. My administration will continue to work across sectors to make sure that Nevadans have access to job-training programs and employment opportunities.”
Employers conducted interviews on-site and many offered employment to job seekers during the event. More firm numbers will be available in the coming week or so.
In addition to jobs, there were resources for job seekers from childcare to financial assistance for training. Immunize Nevada was on hand to administer COVID and flu vaccines, to ensure every Nevadan is ready to safely work. In total, 146 people received a COVID-19 vaccine on-site, which was a mix of first doses, second doses, and booster shots.
Joining the Governor was Director Elisa Cafferata from Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, and representatives from many state agencies. Key to the planning and execution of the event were partners Nevada JobConnect and Workforce Connections.
