​21 new cases of COVID-19 in Alaska; 14 residents, 7 nonresidents

June 24, 2020 ANCHORAGE — The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) today announced 21 new cases of COVID-19 in Alaska. Fourteen are residents of seven communities: Anchorage (7), Fairbanks (2), Chugiak (1), Ketchikan Gateway Borough (1), Matanuska-Susitna Borough (1), North Pole (1) and Palmer (1). This brings the total number of Alaska resident cases to 792.
Seven new nonresident cases were also identified in:
  • Fairbanks North Star Borough (4): two in the mining industry, one in a visitor, and one in other industry
  • Municipality of Anchorage (1): unknown at this time
  • Combined Bristol Bay and Lake & Peninsula boroughs (1): one in the seafood industry
  • Kodiak Island Borough (1): one in other industry
This brings the total number of nonresident cases to 136.
Of the new Alaska resident cases identified yesterday, six are male and eight are female. Two are under the age of 10; four are aged 10-19; two are aged 20-29; three are aged 30-39; one is aged 50-59 and two are aged 60-69. There have been a total of 64 hospitalizations and 12 deaths with one new hospitalization and no new deaths recorded yesterday. Recovered cases now total 507, with five new recovered cases recorded yesterday. A total of 96,096 tests have been conducted. The average percentage of daily positive tests for the previous three days is 0.71%.
This report reflects data from 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on June 23 that posted at noon today on the Alaska Coronavirus Response Hub.
