Pulls you right in
The title and story is what caught the attention on this one. Plus, as a kid, I loved Role Playing Games. Used to really get into D&D. Actually, loved the stories not good at the game...
Doing the usual, browsing Kickstarter, figured I would give this one a read. The introduction video is very well done with artwork. The time is excellent, long enough to give you detail. Short enough not to lose your attention.
"About" and "Backstory":
The first section gets right to the point and is a very good lead in to my favorite part of this Kickstarter. It gets your attention without giving too many details. Leaving room for a great breakdown over the next few sections.
The Backstory is what really pulled me in! Even in the Kickstarter, the writers seriously know the definition of "immersion" I look for that in just about everything. It does bring into question what we consider "reality".
A very serious bonus is the ability to view the game's Quickstart Guide. This helps you figure out what the game is really like. Using only a 10 sided does help really simplify things especially with game progression. Another area that shows this game easily welcomes new players is only 5 clans to choose from. I can tell from the Kickstarter and Quickstart Guide, this game is easy to learn but complicated enough advance RPG players will not easily lose interest.
The Rewards do appear to be very well balanced with donation. They also realize people (like me) may prefer a digital version vs. print.
Overall, Era: The Chosen is worth your investment. While having a few aspects in common with other Role Playing Games, it is very easy to tell a lot went into the game creation. Both time, resources and writing. The reward levels fit the donation perfectly. I am very curious how the story will develop over time. Exactly how far this game will go...
