Barriers between Nature
In addition to the title, what caught my attention here, mainly, is how Margaret Wingard (artist) made me think about something very obvious.
In our modern world, we talk about saving the planet. In the same breath constantly place barriers between us and nature / the natural world. I prefer concrete / blacktop / neon to grass / blue skies. Ms. Wingard is dead on with this exhibition. Think about when you were a kid. A corn field / farm / group of trees that used to be there, is now a building or something else.
As a part of nature, this exhibit definitely makes us think about far removed we have become. Personally, I always sneakers and never go barefoot in nature. Even for people who do, how many times do they actually THINK about the connection with the planet have?
In addition, Deluxed points out how something as simple as wearing shoes defines a civilized vs. uncivilized society. How the more technology and objects that society the farther advanced it is believed to be.
Seriously, this is one I WISH the magazine had a budget to fly out there and experience.
The Indiegogo project provides great detail. Getting to the point with text and video. Definitely does not drag out and become boring. Artist background, great cost breakdown, short "about" section are all the right length to keep your attention.
If you can't afford to make a donation now, keep this one high on your list and radar. Great Job!
