welcome to the holiday season in the Lehigh Valley!!!!
Pick up booklet with entire holiday schedule of events and places or check online: www.christmascity.org
Quick route from Broad and Main Sts. to Southside / Artsquest:
1) The Shoppes at Main St. Commons (Broad and Main): Lower Level: Say hi and have your photo taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus
2) Cross Main walk to Sun Inn
2) TOP YOUR LIST / MUST STOP!: Christmas Village at Sun Inn Courtyard: Unique Christmas gifts / ornaments plus getting you in the traditional Holiday spirit. Stop by The Joint for a coffee / hot chocolate
3) Check out the some of the great shops / places to eat and warm up
4) Depending on time of day: Cross Main St. again and stop by the Goudie House for the advent calendar.
5) Walk down and stop by Bethlehem House Gallery for very unique / art gift ideas
6) Check out more great shops / places to eat and warm up
7) Continue down Main St. to Moravian Book Shop. Inside, you will find the Colony Meadery. THIS is a DEFINITE to take a break / relax with a wide variety of mead and great food!
8) Go to the end of Main St. You can't miss the white signs for the Christmas Putz at Central Moravian Church. Follow the signs for a very cool and different experience. This will give a little history of Bethlehem at the holidays and the story of Christ's birth (short version).
9) This part is especially for after sunset: Pick up the free trolley (check schedule) and head to the south side.
10) Don't not ignore the great shops / bars on 3rd and 4th sts. BUT... ArtsQuest is your final stop...
11) When you get off the trolley, go to ArtsQuest first. Especially Thursday - Saturday nights for the music / comedy / etc. In case you are there early, DEFINITE on Gingerbread House display!!! Very cool and amazing...
12) Final stop. I know, $9 to get in without coupon. Worth the cash spent. Christkindlmarkt. What I really love is the almost village outside in the back. A lot of great gift ideas and ornaments from artists and a few mass produced places.
13) Take trolley back to Main St. Best reason: if after sunset, you get a mini-tour of Bethlehem and the lights!
More exploring / discovering of the Lehigh Valley during the holiday season is up to you. Believe me, it is worth taking the walks and drives!!!
